“Mas Cal Sastre” is a country house located in a 16.063 square meters estate, on a slight slope that ends at a hilltop, found at 895 meters of height over the sea level. Besides from the Cottage, we also find Quim and Joan’s workshop in the old barn, where they are devoted to building up wooden houses through ecological and sustainable criteria. The warehouse, that was used before to feed livestock, today is full of wood, beloved material of the economical activity of Sant Hilari. In a corner, we find a small hen-coop while at the end of the valley Martí is preparing a vegetable garden that will be watered with the rain water of the reservoir. Having a walk back and forth, one can meet “Casper”, the dog of the Cottage, whose task is to warn us when people, or cats or rabbits, whatever animated being, in fact, come, as long as he’s not having a nap. All of these make Mas Cal Sastre a Cottage that has a life on its own, full of activity, productive. Definitely, the characteristic features of an authentic Cottage. Finally, behind the Cottage, “Les Guilleries”, sub-region amidst Girona and Barcelona, a land of deep woods, water, witches and ruffians. |
